Gay joined the Financial Services industry in 1981 having graduated in biology and plant taxonomy from Birmingham and Reading universities.
Her first job was a Supervisor at Sun Life area office in Reading in the Pensions Department. She developed a liking for Small Self Administered Schemes and moved to Sun Life’s Specialist SunTrust Department in Bristol head office.
A family move saw her switch from an insurance company to an IFA, again administering pensions but specialising in the IFA’s own group of SSASs. There was a baby break of 3 years and then Gay worked for an actuarial firm in its new satellite office in Birmingham, meeting up for the first time with Robert Taylor.
After 4 years Gay was made a Consultant dealing primarily with the IFA’s extensive book of SSASs. She then moved to a large Broker close to home in Stourbridge to increase their SSAS portfolio and also became Regional Director of the Financial Services Department there.
With ‘A’ Day (2006) looming, Gay joined Pensions Management Limited a specialist SSAS administration Company, PML Trustees Limited, the Trustee and Administrator for SSAS and the newly formed PML Financial Services Limited of which she and Robert Taylor are Directors.
In early 2011, Gay qualified as a Chartered Financial Planner, becoming one of the first in the country to attain this high level benchmark qualification, normally considered the ‘gold standard’ in the UK for professional financial planners and advisers.
Gay enjoys gardening, skiing and zumba and is a passionate supporter of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, modern ballet and contemporary art. She is attempting to complete the Severn Way, from the river’s source in Wales to its mouth near Bristol.
